The Kosse Heritage Society
a 501(3C) Organization

The Heritage House was owned by a Mr. Fred Bradley from Houston, who donated the house to the Heritage House Society in 1979.
The Kosse Heritage House located on Hwy 14 just south of Hwy 7 and Hwy 14 serves as Kosse's museum and as a tribute to the history of our "Little Town with a Big Heart".

The Heritage House is managed by The Kosse Heritage Society, a 501 (3c) exempt organization organized in 1979. An annual fundraising festival is held each year.

The Heritage House is maintained by donations and volunteer work.

The house features four historical rooms. Over the years many items such as period furniture, photographs, art, and historical documents have been donated to the old home.

The Heritage House also features a "Kosse Hall of Fame" in which local people are commemorated for their great accomplishments and volunteer work in the Kosse community.

A quilting group meets here weekly and volunteers have it open for visitors periodically.

Kosse Heritage Festival News :

The 2nd annual Kosse Heritage Festival was was held on Saturday, May 29, 2010. The festival honored our military personnel and veterans as well as remembering the veterans who have died for our country. The festival program began at 1:00 with the National Anthem and prayer. Mr. Jack Robertson, a relative whose family donated the old heritage home to the Kosse Heritage Society, gave a brief introduction of the old house. Kyler Partin and Tamera Lee were introduced as the recipients of $350 college scholarships for 2010.

Musical entertainment was provided by A-Plus Rodeo systems along with several solos from Wendi Wilson and BJ Bryant. Buddy Cobbs entertained the crowd with a few heart-warming poems along with his wife Sissy, who elaborated on the service of her son and other soldiers.

Several veteran speakers honored us with their presence and had a few words to say about current and past history as relating to our freedoms and the war we are fighting.
Those speakers included veterans: Mitch Eckols; Calvin Whatley, Eddie Hall Jr., Ronnie Pettigrew and Kim Hatley.

Kim Hatley a 6 year veteran and wife of John Hatley (20 year veteran), ended the program with a brief update on John's situation regarding his wrongful 40 year sentence to prison, and gave remembrance of John's soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The old bell rung in remembrance of lives lost with a moment of silence for each one.

We also were honored with the presence of several vendors and the Texas Independence Booth. Billy Wallace, head of the Texas Independence Re-enactment and his crew gave the festival an added flair with muskets sounding off and old costume dress. Barbeque and drinks were sold along with booths of jewelry; hats and Kosse schoolhouse items and Famous Plants and Flowers with their popular collection.

The Heritage House was open for tours afterward for a look at repairs that have been made and that are continuing to be made.

A big THANK YOU to all our donors for the time and money you have given us towards this event. It would not have been possible without you! And to Aunt Kat who is always getting her hands dirty for the old house….90+ years has not slowed her down! WOW!

The Kosse Heritage House society's goal is go keep American History and local Kosse History alive through events such as the festival. Anyone wishing to be a part of our society may meet with us every 4th Monday of the month. Dues are $25.00 each person per year.
