A key benchmark in making Kosse “water independent” was achieved on December 14, 2015. The City of Kosse was notified that the grant for the Kosse Water Well Project was approved by the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB). The TWDB also approved additional EDAP bond borrowing. EDAP approval allows funding of the project to be half grant and half low-interest loan. Funding and the start of well and infrastructure construction is projected for the 2nd quarter of 2016. This is one of the final steps in a several year process to address the water supply in the Kosse area.
The new water system will include two wells, two ground storage tanks, a new water treatment plant and a new water tower and pipeline to bring water to town.
