Carolyn Wills, daughter of Bob Wills, is co-founder and president of the Bob Wills Heritage Foundation. Toward preserving and promoting her father’s legacy, an important American legacy, one of her personal contributions has been to share the experience of being ‘At Home with Bob Wills.’ Andrea Ruby, Bob Wills' granddaughter is expected to visit as well.
“I’m so excited to join with the Kosse Heritage Society in a presentation at Kosse’s annual Homecoming luncheon on June 9,” she said. “Visiting my father’s birthplace for the first time and sharing a part of his story will also be a special homecoming for me.”
Remembering her father, Carolyn talks of home-cooked meals like red beans and made-from-scratch cornbread, of picnics, horses and drive-in movies, of TV shows like Ed Sullivan, Perry Mason, Cisco Kid, wrestling and ‘shoot-em-up’ westerns.
“I think of a big black and white bus in front of our house, laughter and storytelling when the band would gather and, ultimately, the silence that would surround one voice – his voice telling a story and, then, the burst of laughter at the end. I think of his love for my mother, family, his Texas Playboys, people, music and horses, and I think of a song that he sang, ‘No Disappointment in Heaven’…and that's how I remember him,” she said. “I’m looking forward to being in Kosse on June 9.”"
