| In the event of a cardiac arrest, time is of the essence. The longer the victim goes without CPR, the less their chance of survival. The City of Kosse is taking life safety and survival very seriously. On Monday, January 23, 2017 Kosse held a CPR and first aid class at the Community Center, taught by Air-Evac. All city personnel including the office staff, police and public works became certified in CPR and basic first aid. A representative from each of the three restaurants and city organizations also became certified. In addition to the CPR certifications, Automated External Defibrillators were purchased and put in service around town. The Kosse Volunteer Fire Department has one of the new defibrillators, and now has two fire trucks equipped with the life saving machines. One of the defibrillators was put into the police vehicle, and the police will now respond to medical emergencies to render aid until EMS arrival. The third defibrillator was put in the Kosse Community Center and will be accessible to anyone in the center in the event of a medical emergency. The unit in the community center is very easy to use, with a voice prompt and simple direction card. |
